Family stories are built from both everyday moments and life’s biggest milestones. My approach leans heavily documentary—I’m always looking for the expressions, interactions, and little pieces of real life that make your family yours—but I also love the intention and artistry of a beautifully composed portrait. Most sessions blend the two, creating a collection that feels genuine, visually compelling, and complete.

Sessions can happen almost anywhere: at home, outdoors, somewhere meaningful to your family, or simply somewhere that gives us room to play and explore. My most popular Park & Portraits session is a good example of how I work: you choose a few activities meaningful to your family, and I give you space to interact naturally, especially with young children, alternating play with short breaks for posed portraits. This keeps things moving while giving us both the spontaneous moments that happen in between and the thoughtfully composed photographs you’ll want to frame.

For families who want something even more documentary, Day in the Life sessions can span a full or half day, trading the traditional portrait session structure for observation. I spend a longer stretch of time with your family as ordinary life unfolds—morning routines, meals, play, errands, bedtime, or whatever makes up your particular day. The point isn’t for the day to be extraordinary. It’s to preserve what this season of your family actually feels like before it changes.
